Find the answers to your questions about the 5100BU/4100IR

This boiler is advertised to allow continuous steam for up to 4 hours, but I am getting less than this.  How can I get up to 4 hours of continuous steam?

It is likely that your steam valve is fully open, which means your steam output is much higher than it needs to be. Locate the black knob on your solenoid and close it off completely. Then, open it a maximum of 2 turns and you will notice your steam will last longer and the pressurized steam output will remain more than sufficient.

How do I empty the water out of the 5100BU/4100IR?

Turn the boiler off and unplug it. Wait for it to cool sufficiently, then remove the pressure safety cap and tip the unit upside down to drain it.

What is Eco Mode?

Eco Mode is an energy-saving mode which keeps your boiler at a “ready state” of 2 bars (29 PSI) of pressure which uses much less electricity than holding at the max. When you are ready to use steam, flick the switch to the “ON” position and it will build up to full pressure in 1-2 minutes.

Important: No Steam in Eco Mode. This is a ready state and will not produce dry steam.

How large is this steam cleaning system?

 The dimensions of the 5100BU are 8” x 12.25” x 10”, or 20.3 x 31.1 x 25.4 cm.

What is the maximum steam pressure of the 5100BU?

50 PSI, or 3.5 Bar

How heavy is the 5100BU?

16.5 lbs, or 7.5 kg including the iron before any water is added

How long does the boiler take to heat up?

Depending on the water in your boiler, a full boiler with 1.9 L of water will heat up in 15-20 minutes.

How long is the steam hose connected to the iron?

7’, or 2.13m

What sort of power does my Reliable steam cleaner draw?

Your 5100BU/4100IR is a combination of a 1000W boiler and 800W iron, for a total of 1800W

Ironing is causing my fabrics to shine.  How can I avoid this?

Shine is often caused by applying excess heat to the material in question. The easiest way to avoid this is to purchase one of our 4000IA iron shoe accessories to reduce direct heat and allow the iron to glide easier over your fabric.

If for some reason you are unable to do this, you can reduce the chance of shine by not allowing the iron to sit on the fabric in one place for too long.

You can also turn down the thermostat on your iron, but keep in mind that if you turn it down too low it can cause the iron to leak.

What is the silicone iron rest for?

This is a handy accessory that allows you to rest your iron wherever the silicone iron rest is placed to avoid burning or melting anything.  The iron rest can even withstand your iron at maximum temperature.

My iron is leaking.  How do I stop this from happening?

Sometimes you will notice initial “leaking” from your iron when you first go to use it due to condensation left in the hose from a prior use.  This can also happen if your boiler has been overfilled but will stop once water levels have decreased to a lower level. If you have ruled out both of these possibilities and the issue persists, please contact our Support Team at support@reliablecorporation.com or call us at 1-800-268-1649.

What sort of water should I use in my boiler?

While any water can be used, using cleaner water will extend the lifetime of your boiler. For this reason, we recommend using distilled water. If hard water must be used, ensure you are following the care and maintenance instructions found in your user manual by draining your boiler out regularly and avoid allowing water to sit and settle for long periods of time inside.

How do I use the water measuring tube?

To check the level of water in the boiler, remove the pressure safety cap and insert the water measuring tube until it touches the very bottom of the tank. Then, cover the opening at the top with your thumb and lift the tube out of the water to see how full it is relative to the maximum capacity of your unit.  Please note that the maximum indicated on the water measuring tube will be lower than the amount of water that can physically fit in your tank.  This is because you need to leave some room for steam!

If I let my boiler run dry, will it burn out the element?

We strongly recommend not allowing your boiler to run dry, as doing so will increase wear and tear on your boiler and possibly void your warranty.

Your 5100BU boiler is equipped with an overheating protection thermostat that shuts off the tank element when the tank is empty.

Once the unit cools, the element will start to heat again. This cycle will continue until you add water to the tank or shut off the unit.

My boiler was working but now it won’t turn on, or it will turn on but won’t heat.  How do I get it working again?

Check that the unit is properly plugged in and you did not blow a breaker. If the issue persists, please contact our Support Team at support@reliablecorporation.com or call us at 1-800-268-1649.

Can I use an extension cord?

It is not recommended to use an extension cord or power bar/surge protector. If an extension cord/surge protector is absolutely necessary, a cord with an ampere rating equal to or greater than the maximum rating of the iron must be used. A cord rated for less amperage can result in a risk of fire or electric shock due to overheating and will void your warranty. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it cannot be pulled or tripped over.

Where is this made?
